Discover the Laurent Perrier Collection at The Millstone Hare
The Millstone Hare at Dallas Burston Polo Club is wonderful for many reasons. It’s country charm and rustic decor make it the perfect choice for Sunday lunch between chukkas. The menu reinvents some familiar dishes, with enough personal flair to convince even the grumpiest guests the Dallas Burston truly is the ideal place to be spending every other weekend- or whenever there’s a match! The Polo Gin and Tonic- battered fish and chips, for example, epitomises the British summer. All it needs is a little rain, but we are more than happy to sacrifice that.
However, tweed upholstery and sausage rolls are only part of the delightful parcel. The Hare proudly offers almost the entire Laurent Perrier champagne range; meaning that, whether you enjoy the complex, delicate flavours of a good vintage, or desperately crave a well-balanced rosé when enjoying the warmth of the summer sun, the Hare will meet your needs. What could be better than spending your weekend languishing on the side of a polo pitch, flute in hand, watching beautifully groomed ponies gallop towards a goal; colouring that perfect British summer day with the incredible flavours of ice-cold Laurent Perrier?
If you do decide to enjoy your time at Dallas Burston this way, here is a guide to the Laurent Perrier wines found at The Millstone Hare:
Non-Vintage Brut
The spirit of the House. Laurent Perrier prides itself on producing non-vintage champagnes to a very high standard, without relying on vintages for its outstanding reputation. The result is a painstakingly-crafted wine that runs beautifully, and consistently, every year. There is a fresh, almost sinewy character that makes it perfect as an aperitif, or alongside poultry dishes.
Try: Parma Ham Wrapped Chicken
Cuvée Rose
Laurent Perrier’s second most recognisable wine. This delightfully aromatic rosé will taste incredible in the shade of the club house, offsetting the heat that we hope this summer will bring!
Enjoy with: Raspberry and Cointreau Eton Mess.
Ultra Brut
Prior to bottling, sugar is added to champagne..The amount of sugar (dosage) determines the eventual sweetness. For Ultra Brut, absolutely zero sugar is added! The result is an incredibly dry, incredibly fresh, simply incredible wine that is quintessential to the name Champagne. Ultra indeed! Oysters or halloumi pairings will convince even the most apprehensive sweet-tooth.
Exquisite with: Olives and Feta Appetiser.
Grand Siecle
This wine is made choosing not one, but three exceptional years. The result is flawless blend of outstanding vintages, and a truly memorable wine that has freshness, structure and finesse. For the appreciation of a refined wine, any food that accompanies it must be of the highest quality. Rely on delicate but extraordinary flavours, such as scallops, fennel and good quality oil.
Try: Heritage Rustic Breadboard with truffle butter.
Alexandra 2004
The jewel of Laurent Perrier. This prestige cuvée is a rare, cherished wine, of which there have been only seven vintages released over 26 years. It’s enchanting raspberry, strawberry and recurrent flavours flourished under the soak-on-the-skin maceration process, and make even the delightful LP Cuvée Rosé bland and flavourless. Make a special occasion even more memorable with this bottle, and be prepared to never again experience rosé champagnes in the same way.
Try: alone. Enjoy this wine’s outstanding flavours without compromising with food. This premium rosé promises to surpass expectations. It delivers.
